Clinical Social Work/Therapist, MSW, LICSW

I know what it is to want to talk with someone, but I need to feel more comfortable or know how to get started. Life is complicated and unfair. There are societal pressures that are put on males to be tough, deal with issues on their own, and not talk about their feelings. I have been a firefighter, Army combat medic, high school/collegiate athlete, and I have worked in everything from security to social services. These diverse experiences have opened my eyes to the need for mental health services and equipped me with a unique perspective and understanding of the challenges you may be facing. Working with my clients, I bring experience, understanding, and assistance so they can start healing, making life improvements, and building playbooks to help them in their everyday lives.

Life can be challenging, and having someone to talk to about your struggles is beneficial. Societal changes and expectations can often lead to stress, anxiety, and worry, particularly the pressure to be strong and self-reliant. We can all find ourselves in situations that cause worry or anxiety. It's common to feel hesitant about sharing your thoughts, fearing judgment or backlash. Men and adolescent boys, in particular, face the challenge of balancing societal expectations, such as being the breadwinner or suppressing emotions imposed by family, society, and work. These pressures can hinder us from seeking the help we need.

Additionally, suppose you are a gun owner or have a profession that causes increased scrutiny or needs security clearances, such as public-facing jobs like EMTs, firefighters, police, pilots, or military. In that case, you might have this difficulty and not seek out the help you need even though you are experiencing depression, PTSD/trauma, or anxiety. I'm here to tell you that you're not alone, and there is a safe place to seek help. My practice focuses on adult and adolescent males. Whether you are experiencing depression, dealing with trauma, Panic, anxiety, behavioral issues, or life stages/transitions. Working with my clients, what I don't bring is judgment. I understand that you want to be heard and improve your life. I use techniques like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you identify and change negative thought patterns, Anger Management to help you control your anger, and Solution Focused Therapy to help you focus on solutions rather than problems, among others, to assist my clients in reaching their goals.”
